Learning
If you are an international student you might find the teaching and learning style in the UK different from that of your home country. Unlike back home you may find the classes are more interactive and involving. You will have not only to attend lectures, but also seminars, presentations, workshops, tutorial sessions, group discussions and debates. At Helios International College we understand the need of international students and they are provided for with an orientation week to familiarise you with the new teaching styles. Also the teaching staff in the college are very professional and approachable. If you need any further assistance or are facing difficulties, please approach your course coordinator or the Student Welfare Officer in the administration department.

Academic Support
The college is working an online academic support system based on Moodle, which allows students and lecturers to interact even they can't meet. Besides, the faculty members are very helpful and if need you can always approach them.

Study Orientations
The Helios International College facilitates international students' adjustment to the UK education system, through extra orientation, revision and examination preparation classes, as well as optional English academic writing classes. Advice is available for students who wish to join courses in Basic Skills, English for Speakers of Other Languages and English as a Foreign Language.

Assessment
A variety of assessment methods are used (please refer to the student handbook), including examinations, coursework, presentations or dissertations.

Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the reproduction or paraphrasing, without acknowledgement, from public or private (i.e.: unpublished) material (including material downloaded from the internet) attributable to, or which is the intellectual property of, another including the work of students. This is a serious offence, with severe penalties. You will be given information on plagiarism when you begin your studies, and can speak to your personal tutor at any time.
