Transport for London (TFL) operates a Student Discount Scheme offering you the opportunity to obtain discounts on travel across the capital. You can obtain a valid 18+ Student Oyster Photocard so that you can buy Bus Passes and Travelcards valid for 7 days, one month or longer periods of up to one year at 30% off the equivalent adult rate. To obtain a Student Oyster Photocard you will be charged a fee of £10 by the Transport for London (TFL).

Single, daily and 3 Day tickets and Oyster single fares are not available at the student rate. However, money can be added to a Student Oyster Photocard to pay adult rate Oyster single fares, which are cheaper than paying cash single fares.

The Student Discount Scheme is available to full-time and part-time students. Please note that not all part-time students are eligible to obtain a discount. You'll need to be 18 years old or over and enrolled on a part-time course that lasts for at least 14 weeks. You also need to be receiving a fee grant, course grant or help from the Access to Learning Fund. Read specific advice on the TFL website.

How to apply?
Full and part-time students can apply online once they have fully enrolled. If you apply before you are enrolled, your application may be rejected and your application fee will not be refunded.

Transport for London will send your Student Oyster Photocard to the address you supply as part of your online application.

To complete your online application you will need:

• Student ID Number
• your course details if you are following a course of less than 1 year
• a digital photograph to upload
• a debit or credit card to pay the £10 application fee.
